Blessed: enjoying happiness . . . the bliss of heaven, bringing pleasure, contentment, or good fortune.
“I don’t have much money, and I don’t see any increase on the horizon but I’m fine with that. I’m overweight and in poor health but my soul is alright. Overall life is a struggle, but if I suffer here I have a glorious eternity waiting for me, I’m blessed.”
Imagine trying to sell that message to someone else.
In my reading: When God Blessed he gave land, fertility, water, increase, peace and health. . . yet we are defeated and broke trying to tell people – we got what they need.
About 12 years ago I began my journey toward that God, and those blessings. I stepped out of church and entered the real world. Guess what? He is out here with me. He is more out here than He was in there.
Every truth I once held sacred has been challenged by a new – just as sacred – truth I ignored. My truths were not wrong, they were just not complete. To everything I once believed about my life I now believe there is something else more empowering and inspiring I’d rather believe, and why not?
We have a choice. The Word is full of principles, promises, and examples. We only embrace and live the ones that support the traditions we grew up with. “A wretch comin up the rough side?” No thanks!!!
We say we want blessings but do we really believe that they are possible. If we do, what do WE need to do to get them. Nothing, is what most people say. So we, especially women, sit idly by accept our fate and wait for eternity.
Don’t you think it’s strange that the promises of God rain on the just and unjust, but people who call themselves believers suffer while other non-religious people prosper and enjoy the blessings???? I know there’s a day coming I’d rather face on the right side, but still, why not have what’s mine now on this side of heaven?
Deuteronomy 28: 2 And all these blessings shall come upon you . . . And the Lord will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give you. 12 The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. 13 And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God . . .
